Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy Statement

Westmount Packaging Ltd has a policy of care of the person, and recognises the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will ensure transparency with its organisation and with all suppliers to the Company. This statement sets out the steps Westmount has taken and will continue to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not occurring within our business or supply chain.

The Company will undertake responsibility for implementing and maintaining this Policy and its objectives, and to review regularly at Board level.

Our Business

Westmount Packaging Ltd has been trading since 1973 in supplying and distributing packaging materials and equipment to businesses. The Company employs 15 members of staff and strives to operate in an ethical and responsible way and to hold our people and suppliers accountable to operate in a similar way.

The Company will not knowingly support or deal with any business or person involved in slavery or human trafficking.

Our Policies and Procedures

Recruitment: we have a recruitment procedure that includes background checks on all new employees.

Equal opportunities: we support equal opportunities for all and will never condone any unfair or exploitive practices that would be detrimental to any person.

Safeguarding: we believe any young or vulnerable person should never be taken advantage of or subject to abuse in any shape or form; we promote the care of everyone in our organisation.

Anti-bribery: this is covered in our Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy, which states that we promote the highest levels of integrity in our business dealings and never undertake any business in a dishonest or unethical manner.

Due Diligence

The Company is satisfied from our own due diligence that there is no evidence of any act of modern slavery or human trafficking within our organisation. Our approach to procurement and our supply chain includes ensuring our suppliers are aligned with our values of care and quality, and are selected from countries with a track record that does not allow for crimes against humanity.

Our People

All our people are employed by the Company and paid above the minimum wage and not subjected to excessive working hours or unsafe conditions.

Training is provided and close working relationships are formed to ensure every member is cared for and that any issues come to light.

The issues of modern slavery and human trafficking are discussed during the induction process, and each person’s background is checked and verified and references taken.

Key performance indicators are that no incidences arise of these issues within our workforce, and no reports or notices received from the staff, the public or law enforcement agencies that would indicate we have any of such practices within our organisation.
